Posts calling France's rioters 'migrant youths' cite social media videos. Ministers and prosecutors have given ages, charges and political blame, but no figures on origin.
Partisan outlets and a Lega senator described the Milan rioters as migrants. Police figures reported by Reuters show foreign nationals as a minority of those arrested, while several outlets report that many of those involved came from immigrant families, some of them born in Italy.
Interior ministers gave final approval on October 1 to rules on deporting people with no right to stay in the EU. The provisions on return hubs apply at once; most other rules apply from October 2027.
